The Mid-Long Term Volunteering (MLTV) program offers an immersive, extended volunteer opportunity designed to support local communities while fostering deep volunteer capacity building. Commencing with a mandatory regional orientation meeting from the 1st to the 5th of every month, the program equips participants with essential cultural, practical, and project insights before they begin their placements.
By engaging directly with host organizations over an extended period, the MLTV process generates a reciprocal, lasting impact strengthening community initiatives while empowering volunteers with continuous personal growth, self-reliance, and intercultural skills.
To ensure continuous development, adaptation, and safety throughout the placement, VSA maintains a structured monitoring framework for MLTV volunteers:
Conducted from the 1st to the 5th of every month in each project region, covering three main areas:
Project Preparation: Orientation sessions with program coordinators to clarify project roles, daily duties, and expectations before starting at host sites.
Cultural & Practical Adaptation: Preparation regarding local living conditions, climate, Thai food, basic language skills, and cultural norms.
Buddy Program: A one-day integration event connecting incoming MLTV volunteers with outgoing volunteers, VSA members, local volunteers, and local university students.
Ongoing reviews are conducted during the placement through on-site visits by regional coordinators or online evaluation meetings involving the volunteer and host organization staff.
Upon project completion, volunteers submit an online evaluation form and a final project report. Reports may be submitted in creative formats, such as photo essays, videos, written articles, infographics, or illustrations.
