This is my experience volunteer in Thailand

After completing two weeks as a volunteer in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, I was left with unforgettable memories. It was my first time traveling abroad, and I went alone, so I initially felt a bit anxious. However, all my worries quickly faded because the place was truly safe. I stayed at the house of the camp leader with other international volunteers. Surprisingly, we didn’t even need to lock the doors carefully when we left the house. The house was spacious, comfortable, equipped with basic amenities, and surrounded by a peaceful environment.

My main task was teaching English to children at two local public primary schools. The kids were well-behaved, adorable, and very lovable. The teachers and coordinators were incredibly friendly and welcoming. During my two weeks there, I spent the first week teaching English to the children in the morning and playing sports with them in the afternoon. In the second week, I taught English some mornings and on other days, I cheered for the kids as they participated in sports competitions with other schools. It was truly fascinating because, in Vietnam, I had never seen such sports competitions for young children.

The food here was delicious, and what impressed me the most was the mango sticky rice—a dish I absolutely loved. On my last day at school, I received many gifts from the students. They were just simple pieces of paper with their drawings, but they made me incredibly happy.

Occasionally, our camp leader, Aom, took us to visit famous nearby attractions. The temples in this area had unique architectural designs, which were very different from those in Vietnam. However, one downside I noticed was the inconvenience of transportation—it was difficult to find a ride to the city. After preparing and having dinner together, we usually just watched movies or surfed the internet, as there wasn’t much to do due to the quiet surroundings and the distance from the city.

I hope to return to Thailand one day to explore new places and experience life with the local people again.
