Learning HOME camp

Hello everyone!

I am Leonardo Cimberle from Italy, Bassano del Grappa (VI) and I joined to the VSA membership with the Learning home project, a school for kids settled in a village near to the Hat Yai airport, southern Thailand.

For me this was the first alone experience as a volunteer, I wanted to see new people and help with everything I could.

I have to say, this is heaven, I was looking for poor places and situations to go to, difficult realities, but instead I just found myself to be on the best place on earth! I really love it, you cannot even believe to the kindness of people, everyone wants you to eat, drink, have fun, stay wealthy and happy! Everybody gives and doesn't want anything back (95% of Thai people are Buddist), if you are coming with the only expectation to learn and share you are going to have a great time!

Accommodation is simple but very "warm", here I feel I am home.

Kids are very exited and funny, Pi Tum, the host is a very very kind person just like his mother that lives in the back of the house, Thai volunteer are fantastic, Pi Pong became almost like an older brother to me, he plays the guitar in a way that you are going to cry for: so amazing!

The activities are various, Monday to Wednesday English lessons, then you learn and practice some local farming and you may go to the Hat Yai wildlife natural reserve, amazing place to teach a little English to local staff members and learn something about local wildlife.

Too many words, you just have to see with your own eyes!

I'll share some pictures for you, but these are nothing!
