We are a rural school in a countryside of Chiang Mai ,Thailand. We have call our area is “Mae-Cham”. We are far from the city around 120 kilometers and we are located in a peaceful area with nearly an Doi-Intanon National Park.
In our school, we have 1,010 poor students from a different hill tribe village, including of Karen , Hmong , Lee-saw , Lua etc.
In PRK31 ( Rajapachanukroh 31) school you will see and study with a different culture and learn more with their daily life. Because we are a school under a Royal project so our school are accept only a children from a poor family who don’t have enough money to paying for learn and all students needed to stay in a school. We have 10 dormitories for accommodate and separate for girls and boys.
For their activities, everyday they have to scheduled a dairy routine for studying and learn more for agriculture farm in school. Every student needed to taking care a farm, rice field and other project as waving clothes, drawing or painting. Their product will sell in a shop and the income will go to the students.
For the English for education project .We have contacted with VSA Thailand for sending us an English teacher for give our students have the big chance to communication with the foreigner. Destroy shyness and let them learn more tradition from the foreigner teacher. This project will open the new world for our poor students.
Volunteers are expecting to work as English teacher in primary & high school. You can preparing the easy English lesson and useful conversation. Open and shared a new experience with the students. Use your own experience for teaching and enjoying with games.
Location Rajaprajanugroh 31 School Maejam District, Chiangmai 150 kms from Chaing Mai city.
Accommodation Volunteer will stay at the school or teacher house. Pictures of the accommodation
Ø Shower as the tube, electricity, fans will be provided
Ø Washing clothes by hand.
Ø Private room available with bed and mattress. Thai toilet (sit on your heel)
Ø No alcohols and smoking very strictly.
Ø Please keep clean and tidy in the community.
Ø You can use computer and internet at the school. But not provide at accommodation
Volunteer eat with students and teacher at the school (Boarding school)
Ø Study and enjoy with student who taking care of school farm project (etc. farming , rice field, buffalos, cows , pigs) following the Royal project and a sufficient agriculture project.
Ø Visit Maepan temple and other ancient temples nearby school such as Pa-dad temple ( There have some painting with over 100 years old )
Ø Training with our teachers and students who have trained for their own project, making a handicraft things , waving clothes, drawing and painting for getting an income.
Ø 1-3 Months 12,000 Bath per month minus 2,000 Bath per month after 4th months
Ø 4th months 10,000 Bath, 5th months 8,000 Bath, 6th months 6,000 Bath, after 9th months is free.
Ø Participation fee use for food, accommodation and transportation from/to learning home – Chiangmai during volunteer project period except volunteer own expenses such as souvenirs, alcohols, personal food, free time travel expenses also expense before the project start and after project ending.
Ø It may be very difficult to change or withdraw money during the Project. So, please prepare adequate funds of Thai Bath in Cash beforehand!!
Ø Culture respect is need in the school, imagine as you are teacher.
Ø You should prepare travel insurance and visa by yourself before departure, there is Local Public Health in case of minor injury that you may get free of medical expense.
Ø If your behavior during the project is not cooperative (e.g. not working properly, not respecting others, breaking the rules, the local manners and culture, etc.), you will be requested to improve. If there is still no improvement, we may request you to leave as the final choice.
What to bring (Base on imagine you are the teacher)
Ø Sleeping bag ( thin one as it is very warm)
Ø Teaching clothes, every shirts need to cover the shoulders, trousers for man and skirt for woman, skirt should cover your knees. Important! No vest, shorts when teaching.
Ø No smoking and alcohols drink in front of students.
Ø Brogue shoe or canvas shoes, no slippers when teaching.
Ø Medicine as you think necessary
Ø Mosquito repellant
Ø Your traditional music and costumes (CDs, ideas for games/ activities).
Ø Materials or sources (brochures, maps, souvenirs, pictures, flags, or handicrafts to introduce
about your country and culture).
Ø Toilet paper / Flash light
Ø Sunglasses and sun-block cream
Ø Any interesting materials such as CDs, ideas for games/activities for students
Ø Energy, enthusiasm and an open mind
Ø Motivation, good humor, and communication skills

Ø SAWASDEE Ka is Hello for Woman, SAWASDEE Krub is Hello for Man just say this word when greeting you will get the smile back from Thai.
Ø Water from tab could not drink but just use for washing.
Ø Sometime you will see Thai toilet, please use bath to get water for suppression.
