VSA1313 Education/Creative English Camp - Chiang Mai

This is the first time we have landed in Thailand but we love to get lost in Thailand. How to describe it may be “It is amazing, captivating and fascinating”.  The main location we traveled to was Rajaparajanugroh 31 School (RP 31).

Located in 99 Moo 10, Tambon, Changkeng, Maechaem and surrounded by enchanting mountain, RP31 school has over 900 students who are from remote areas. Although this is the first time we have gone to RP 31 school to do voluntary work, we were impressed by its beauty with wonderful landscapes and cute students.

According to the schedule, we would spend 15 days at this school, teaching students English, playing and sharing ideas with them. As a first glance at RP 31, “the students are shy but nice. Well I am very happy to be here to see their smiles”, Huyen and Sabrina said. In fact, we have seen the shyness of the children for the first time teaching them, but after that the ice was broken; the children could smile and laughed. If you saw their smiles, your heart could be melted. However, the volunteers found it hard to express their ideas to the students, and we needed to change and try many ways such as drawing pictures and playing games to help them learn vocabulary in a good way. Successfully, when we look into their rights we could know they understood. It is really great.

Another striking feature is that we could see many amazing spots in ChiangMai such as Doi Inthanon with the temple on the top of the mountain. It is impressive we reached there like heaven in fog in the chilly morning. When doing voluntary work, we could have relaxing time to travel somewhere which made us exhilarated and excited. The second point we visited in Maechaem - Mae Pam waterfall. Despite walking through a long path, we still found it interesting and amazing. How wonderful it was. After travelling somewhere, we could come back to see the lovely students of RP 31 School and continued teaching, listening, and sharing.

“Thank you teacher, see you again next time!” We will always remember this because it is so emotional with the love of the students for us. We wish to say “Thank you!!! And we treasure every moment to remember with you at Rajaparajanugroh 31 School.”, all volunteers shared. Especially, this is an incredible experience for us to understand more about Thailand and learn.
